GLENS FALLS — Hard work pays off

That’s the message local metal band Circle of Red received last week when they beat out more than a dozen other regional bands in a battle of the bands for a chance to open at the Music as a Weapon Tour Monday, April 27, at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

“I’ve been working so hard for eight years,” said bassist and vocalist Kevin Dundon. “I’m always wondering, ‘Do we have what it takes to be able to make it?’ I always thought we did, but we never had an opportunity.”

That opportunity finally has arrived, he said.

The Glens Falls opening will give the band an opportunity to perform for more than 8,000 heavy metal fans, and interact with national bands Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Lacuna Coil and Chimaira, Dundon said.

“We definitely have potential to take it to the next level,” Dundon said of the five-piece band, made up of lead vocalist Ryan Perry, Dundon, guitarist Nick Skaly and drummer Chris Hadlock. “We’re hoping for the exposure that will get us signed. What we’ve always wanted was to be with the same label as Killswitch Engage.”
