Disturbed was formed in the late '90s in Chicago, and most of the band have kept their roots in the city. Guitarist Dan Donegan grew up in Chicago and considers himself a pretty big baseball fan. Both Chicago teams, the White Sox and the Cubs find themselves in the thick of the playoff race, and talk has already started surfacing about a World Series battle between the cross-town rivals.
So what would Donegan, an avid White Sox fan, think?
"That would be interesting. I mean that would be very chaotic because obviously the north side and the south side fans don't really think too much of each other. And even when the White Sox a few years back won the World Series, I'm sure there weren't too many happy Cubs fans. Even though it should have brought the community together to be happy for the city, at least they didn't want to admit it if they were happy for the White Sox."
Despite his passion for the Sox he does sympathize with the Cubs as well.
"I'd be happy either way. I'm on the fence with the Cubs too. I'm a South Side guy, but I'll go to Wrigley Field. I'll see some games. If they make it to the World Series I'd be happy to see them. They had a couple of close shots, obviously a few years ago and they want to blame it on Steve Bartman, the fan that got in the way (by trying to catch a ball that the Cubs outfielder would have caught). You can't blame him for it. He did what anyone else would have done if they were in reach of the ball. But it would be interesting to see both teams to go there. It would be very chaotic. I think there would be a lot of police working that night to make sure there wasn't too much trouble in the city."
Currently the Cubs are leading the National League central division and the White Sox are leading the American League central division. The Cubs last won the World Series in 1908, nearly 100 years ago.
